From Annabelle H: This was a Labour Party connection - before the first Welsh Assembly election in 1999, Paul was Secretary of Cardiff North Labour Party and I was Secretary in Cardiff West. There had been a big campaign in Welsh Labour to secure a constituency twinning process to ensure that a good number of women got elected to the Assembly. We'd been involved in the campaign, which was eventually successful, and we worked together on the first twinned selection, which delivered our two excellent candidates Sue Essex and Rhodri Morgan. We were very relieved to achieve this. Paul was a wonderful person to work with and we remained firm friends from then on. Rest in peace comrade.
