From Norman and Pat H: Both Pat and I have fond memories of our time in Cardiff and Paul and Janet contribute to that in no small way. As a young family uprooting and moving down to Wales it was easy for me to assimilate into BT life. The dispersal unit was largely made up of young (child free) couples so the social life was varied so I had ample opportunity to become involved in the wider community. Janet and Paul, however, realised there was another partner in this move with two young children and they (along with John and Pauline Wakefield) went out of their way to involve Pat and the boys in the social events and to introduce her to more family oriented activities for which we are ever grateful. In terms of my own memories of Paul, apart from supporting another team also sporting red and white stripes - giving us an easy opening conversation most Monday mornings I have an abiding memory of him embracing the culture of our new location/country. In particular I recall several occasions (usually late on a Friday when core hours needed rebalancing) of sitting in the middle of the office in Brunel House whilst Paul and John Farnhill (at opposite ends of the same office), practised their Welsh accents and vocabulary. Two Yorkshiremen speaking Welsh to each other truly was something to hear! In the same vein, I recall Paul was particularly active and vociferous in a campaign to introduce dual language signage into Brunel not sure he succeeded but it certainly wasn't for the want of trying. We will miss his year end updates and Christmas cards - one of life's good guys. Our condolences to you both for your sad loss.
